Overview
Round displays have become the signature look for smartwatches, fitness bands, and a growing range of wearable health devices, and building one is genuinely different from cutting a rectangular panel down to a smaller size. A true round LCD uses a circular active area from the glass stage onward, so there is no wasted corner space and no square backlight peeking out from behind a round bezel.
This category groups the round and near-round TFT and IPS modules developed for wrist-worn and small-form electronics, typically ranging from 1.04 inches up to around 1.78 inches in diameter. Resolutions commonly sit between 240x240 and 466x466, paired with MIPI or QSPI interfaces chosen to keep the driver IC footprint and power draw small enough for a battery-powered wearable.
Because wearables are worn against the skin and used outdoors as often as indoors, panels in this group are also evaluated for daylight visibility, low standby current, and mechanical durability against everyday knocks.
